SKIING AND
SNOWBOARDING INJURY PREVENTION Introduction Skiing and snowboarding are dangerous sports. On average there are three injuries per 1000 skiers or snowboarders per day. The spectrum of injury is from minor sprains to paralysis and even death. The goal of this EMEDx seminar is to raise the awareness of common injuries and to provide you with prevention tips for these injuries. We will also outline a specific preseason conditioning program. Skiing
and snowboarding are vigorous and sometimes dangerous sports. Studies
have shown that there are approximately three injuries per thousand
skiers or snowboarders on a mountain per day. These injuries range from
minor sprains to paralysis and even death.
Raising awareness of common problems coupled with a preseason
conditioning program should decrease the chances of sustaining an injury
while skiing or snowboarding.
