$125 Sit and Go with the Magician

After getting knocked out the tourney the first day  I headed over and played in a $125 sit and go.   I was a little bummed that I got knocked out but decided to risk some cash and play some more.  I didn’t know anyone at the table until Antonio Esfandiari (The Magician) sat down to my left in spot number 10.  The game was very rapid.  The blinds started low but rapidly increased every fifteen minutes.  Again I played super tight and tried to use some of the Joe Navarro’s advice about non-verbal communication and tells.  By simply playing tight, the table narrowed down to five guys pretty quickly.  Unfortunately for me, the Magician was always to my left and he is crazy aggressive.  I stayed out of all of his pots.  Another guy gets busted and I am now in fourth place at least.  They pay out the top three spots in these super fast sit and gos.  So, I looked around at the chip stacks and realized that I was just slightly ahead of one guy and that Antonio and another dude had 3-5 times as many chips as me.  I could just try to survive and bleed out the other guy for third which paid $220 or go for it if I caught a decent hand.   Well that decision came very quickly when I looked at 10c 9c on the button.  I decided to go all in and try to double up.  The Magician instantly called my all in and the other guys folded.  He had K  6 off suit.  I had a minor chance until the flop hit with a king.  I was done.  Antonio clearly bored with the low stakes game was making $1000-2000 side bets with his buddies about if he could win the mini-tourney.  He quickly chopped up the other guy and collected the winner's share.  It was great sitting down and playing with a world class player.

Next time, how the same table played the $125 sit and go again.
