Mike B's Poker Story

Ok, I was at Camp Hellmuth in Vegas too. In the main tournament, my story is not very exciting, I had two pair (JQ) and TJ had two pair (AQ). At least I got to play a big hand against a professional...

My bad beat story happend in the poker room at the Flamingo. I sat down at the $200 No-Limit cash game and turned $200 into about $800 in a couple hours of solid play. Then I was delt pocket A's. The table was extremely loose, so I figured I could make a healthy raise. In 5th position, I raised the limpers up to $60. The big blind only at $2 in the pot. I got called by only the button. The flop showed A 7 10...two spades. I held the ace of spades in my hand. Action was on me first, so I raised $100 (an over bet hoping to get a call). The button called and the turn came 4 of clubs. Now I knew that the flush was much less likely. Infact, how could my opponent make a large play on a flush without the Ace!? I felt that there was enough money in the
pot and I didn't really want a call on the off chance that there was flush coming. So I moved all in for another $640...
Remember the 7 and 10 of spades were on the board, I have the Ace of spades in my hand. That leaves 10 spades left in the deck. If the 4 of spades comes, I make a boat and the flush doesn't matter. That leaves only 9, two of which could be in my opponents had (worst case scenario). That leaves 7 cards that could make a flush. 7 out of the remaining 42 unknown cards is about a 16% chance...that's about 1 in 6.  My opponent called for $640 on a 16% of making a king high flush. Of course, he caught a 9 of spades on the river and cracked my A's for a
