Tourney at Camp Hellmuth:  How I went down.

We then headed to Bunions via bus for our lunch and our first tournament.   It was held in the exact spot where they have the final table of the WSOP.  It was clear to me by then that most if not all of the people at this Camp were better than me.  I made a conscious decision to use David Slansky’s ""System" for the tourney.  There were about 160 people in the first one and I played it super tight (AA only) for the first two hours.  I made it to the break with 2000 of my 2500 chips intact.  Shortly after the break, our table was busted up and I went from having an average amount of chips to the short stack at a monster table.  The average was at least 8-10k.  I kept playing tight until the blinds hit 150-300.  Under the gun I found Ac 8c and I went all in.  It may have been a little early to do that as I didn’t know the whole tourney’s average chip count but this was a great table and I wanted to make a stand.  Everyone folded except the super stack who called me with Ks 9s.  The flop consisted only of blanks.  I was clearly in the lead when a 9 popped up on the fourth street and I was out.  The river game me no love and the club flush draw never materialized.  I looked at the monitor and it read 99.  So I was out with just under a 100 people left.  That meant I also beat 61 people.  Not a bad first try for someone with very little experience.

Next time, what I learned from playing the sit and gos with Antonio....
